Five of my Wardrobe Essentials

When pulling stuff out of my wardrobe, the majority of the time I will go for comfort over style. There are always a few key pieces I reach for as I know that they are super easy to style. I’m all for trying out new trends but if I don’t feel comfortable in it, then I won’t wear it. Does this just make me lazy? I always question my dress sense as I feel like I could make my whole outfit a little bit nicer if I just tried a bit harder. Like choosing accessories to add something extra. It is little things like that, that can make the whole difference to an outfit. But I think when you have some main items, like a capsule wardrobe, you can easily put together something you feel comfortable and stylish in.

Little Black Dress

Starting with the dress, I was just casually browsing ASOS when I came across this beauty for just £12! Yep, you heard right. This gorgeous t-shirt dress cost me just £12, and it wasn’t even in the sale. For a price like that I knew I needed to add it to my wardrobe. A classic black shift dress is one of those key comfort pieces that you can just throw on and layer up. The frill and mesh detail make it a little less ‘grunge’ and a bit more feminine.

Aviator Jacket

Thrown on over the top, I’ve layered up the dress with my favourite khaki aviator jacket*. I love having this jacket for slightly warmer days as it makes a nice change to wearing my leather jacket, and it is slightly more cosy with its faux sheepskin lining. Khaki is also one of my fave colours at the moment and I like wearing it with black, as I feel like the two colours really compliment each other.

Quartz Necklace

A bit of a strange one to think of as a ‘wardrobe essential’ but a quartz necklace will go with just about any outfit. This beautiful gold dipped quartz necklace* is from Katana Banana Designs. Created by Aleks, all of the jewellery featured on her website is handmade and designed by herself. Inspired from the environment around her, she creates beautiful and intricate pieces of jewellery using natural products. This quartz necklace is one of my favourite pieces from her collection as I have always had a thing for crystal jewellery. It is such a versatile necklace that you can accessorise any outfit with. She also makes these beautiful quartz necklaces with a bullet casing.

Small Black Bag

This little black bag (similar) has served me well over the past few years. I have worn it so much, but you wouldn’t even know just from looking at it. I won it a few years back in a competition from LYDC. I had the option to pick a few bags from their collection, and when I saw this one I thought it looked so similar to the Michael Kors Selma bag so knew I had to have it! It is another one of those classic pieces that every girl needs in their wardrobe.

Converse

No wardrobe should ever be without a pair of converse. Regardless of the colour, you will end up wearing them to death. I have had this pair just over a year now and they have had so much wear that they could probably walk themselves. They go with absolutely everything in my casual wardrobe and are just super comfortable. I would never have pictured myself wearing a pair of trainers with a dress, but with Converse it actually works.
