When it comes to my beauty/haircare/skincare routine, I am actually quite lazy… Most of the time I can’t be bothered with putting on lots of products or spending time blow-drying my hair unless it is a special occasion. I guess in that sense you could say I am quite low maintenance. So when I find a product that endorses my low maintenance side, I am very happy! The Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine is one of those products, and boy do I love it!
What is Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine?
Described as “hard to describe” (I can believe that!), the Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine is a kind of crème/styling oil that gives your hair a polished but edgy kind of look. So basically it adds texture and definition but still gives your hair moisture, shine and tames it a little. This all sounds like a huge contradiction, but seriously, it does all of those things!
What’s more, it doesn’t matter what hair type you have as it works for all. When you first squeeze it out of the tube, it feels like quite a thick and creamy product, which you automatically think = greasy. But that is not that case at all. As you start to work it through your hair it literally just disappears. My hair absorbs it really quickly and it just leaves me with a really natural look.
There are two ways in which the bb brilliantine can be used – both of which I do on a regular basis:
Applied to wet hair
Put a blob of product into the palms of your hands, rub them together and then use sparingly through your wet hair. I like to comb it through with my fingers as I find it helps distribute it well. I find that when used on wet hair, you don’t actually need as much either as a little really does go a long way.
Applied to dry hair
Again, putting a blob into the palms of your hands, comb it through the ends of your hair. I like to do this on the second-day post-wash when my hair starts to get a little frizzy. This helps to tame my hair and add a little moisture to the dry ends.
Pricing-wise, you can pick up the Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine for around £20.50, which does seem a little pricey. For that, you get a small 50ml tube BUT I promise a little goes a long way. The directions for use state to use sparingly, so I do, but it is like I still have a full tube. I have super thick hair too, so I do need a lot of product. I can just tell that this little tube will last me a good few months, and as my only haircare product at the moment I think it is well worth the price.
Brilliantine is one of those products that offers near to no hold, but still works wonders for your hair. Adding shine, definition and moisture, it provides your hair with all its styling needs. So for all your low maintenance gals out there, I’m telling you now, you need this product in your haircare routine. In fact, it will just become your haircare routine.
