I am always up for trying new products, and when this unusual SkinYoga Sandalwood Saffron Face Mask* landed on my doorstep I was intrigued. My skin is really not looking great at the moment, so I am willing to try anything and everything that can help its sorry state…
First things first, I just have to talk about the packaging! How unique is it?! The face mask comes in a little wooden laser cut box. It just really reflects the brand providing 100% natural skincare. The facemask itself comes in a little glass bottle with a cork lid. Again, another little touch that makes the SkinYoga Sandalwood Saffron Face Mask that little bit more intriguing. The consistency is sort of like a damp, textured powder. I know that is a really weird description, but it wasn’t what I was expecting either when I took the cork off the top!
“The goodness of sandalwood will reverse the signs of ageing and gradually remove wrinkles and dark spots. Saffron will improve skin texture and also naturally make skin brighter and more radiant.“
Although I don’t look for skincare products that help with signs of ageing (I’m only 23), I do look for brightening skin products as my skin can look quite dull. So I was excited to see if this product would actually help at all with that.
How to use the SkinYoga Sandalwood Saffron Face Mask
To use this face mask, you simply put a teaspoon of the powder into your hand and add a few drops of hot water. In the palm of your hand, you can mix it together until it makes a thick, creamy paste. This is then applied over the face and neck in an upwards motion. The face mask should then be left on for between 10 -15 minutes until it has dried. You can then rinse with warm water. It is also recommended that you give your face a splash of cold water after, just to close your pores.
Does it work?
I only had a small sample of the facemask, so I got a couple of uses out of it. But I have to say, I did quite like it! I will admit that when you first start mixing it with water, the paste it becomes doesn’t look too appealing to smother all over your face… But once you get over that and put it on, it isn’t too bad, and it doesn’t have much of a scent to it, which was actually quite nice. I guess it made it feel more natural.
When it came to rinsing it off, it was a little messy as the face mask had started to crumble once it dried on my skin. It all came off very easily with a hot flannel though. Once clean, my skin felt very smooth but the one thing I loved about it the most was that it actually felt hydrated. As this face mask contains coconut oil, you don’t have to moisturise after using it. I didn’t get any of that horrible tightness from my skin feeling too dry – so I totally loved this face mask for how hydrated it made my skin feel. The texture of my skin definitely felt a lot better. I think if I had more product to use, after a few more uses it would have worked a treat!
Priced at £27 for a 50g bottle, this is a slightly pricier face mask compared to others I have used in the past. However, you have to remember that it is a completely natural product made up of only good ingredients.
