So a couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went on a little weekend retreat to Sidmouth in Devon. It sounds like a random place to visit but my boyfriend actually had a interview there to gather some research for his dissertation. And as Sidmouth is a good four hours away from where we live, we thought we may as well make a weekend out of it!
While we were there we paid a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary. All the donkeys were absolutely adorable! There are hundreds of donkeys kept there, but as it was getting late into the afternoon and it was quite foggy and cold, the majority of them had moved inside.
Having never been to Devon, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I definitely was not expecting to see the most beautiful coastline! It completely took us by surprise when we decided to take a walk on the Saturday afternoon. Luckily I had taken my camera with me so we managed to get some absolutely stunning pictures, which I thought I would share with you. I hope you like them!
We were lucky enough to have lots of fog while we were there which made the pictures look even more eerie and cool. I would never otherwise be saying that fog is actually a good thing! The pictures were all taken on my Olympus Pen using the standard kit lens and I think we might have used the 45mm lens on some occasions, but I can’t actually remember which pictures…
Sidmouth actually turned out to be the cutest little seaside town, with lots of nice shops, places to eat and gorgeous beaches. It wasn’t overly crowded with tourists and didn’t have that typical tacky seaside town feel to it at all.
Although we were there for the weekend, I could have easily stayed a few days longer. I just found the place to be so relaxing. I could have sat on the beach all day long, just admiring the views – even if it was a little chilly!
Have you ever visited Sidmouth?
