When you have combination/oily skin, getting your makeup to stay all day seems like an absolutely impossible task. I have got through numerous amounts of different products but nothing seemed to help stop my foundation sliding all over the place as it got later in the day. THANKFULLY I have finally come across three amazing products and a great technique that you can introduce into your daily makeup routine that will help keep your makeup in place all day long.
So before you start putting on your concealer and foundation you need to apply a primer. And I have finally found the most amazing primer that minimises all pores and provides you with the most smooth, perfect base to start applying your makeup to. The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer is just incredible. Honestly, no other primer I have ever tried will live up to this one. Purely because of how well it holds and maintains my makeup all day. You only need a tiny amount to smooth over your face. It soon sinks in and you are ready to move onto the next steps of your makeup routine.
Once your foundation and concealer are in place, it is time to set them using a technique called ‘baking’. This is a technique that uses a loose powder and your body’s natural heat to ‘bake’ the makeup, setting it in place. For this my favourite product to use is the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder (full review). Using a damp makeup sponge (give it a spritz of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir), I dip it in the powder and carefully blot under my eyes leaving a significant amount of white powder underneath. While I do the rest of my makeup, I leave the powder in place to ‘bake’. You can leave it on for around 5-10 minutes. After that, I just get a large powder brush and dust off the excess. This method is perfect for stopping any creasing from happening under your eyes.
The last step, once all your makeup is in place is to set your makeup with a setting spray. Every beauty blogger under the sun raves about one setting spray in particular, the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. This spray is just incredible and it really does keep your makeup on all day. I like to give my face a couple of sprays using a cross motion, and I’m good to go.
I hope that some of these tips can help you maintain your makeup all day. I know that it can be such a pain with oily skin, but I would definitely recommend using The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer as it really has changed my thoughts on wearing foundation. I used to hate the thought of my makeup sliding off my face but I no longer need to worry about that!
