Last year was the 15th birthday of Essence Cosmetics, would you believe?!To celebrate Essence’s 15th, I was really kindly sent a box of goodies from them, with a few new products that I haven’t tried before. Their range of funky but affordable makeup has always made them one of my favourite brands to buy. I have so many pieces from their collection in my makeup bag, so to celebrate them being such a fab brand, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite bits of makeup from them.
As I said, I have so many pieces from Essence in my makeup collection, so if I were to include them all in this post it would be extremely long. So I have selected the pieces that I think are really good value for money, considering the quality of them.
So this mascara completely blew my mind. Yes, it only costs £3.30 but it is honestly one of the best mascaras I have ever used. The amount of curl, volume and length it adds to my lashes in insane. I put it to the test against some of my other mascaras, and this was a clear winner due to its value for money. I know that they have a few different ones in the collection, but the two I have tried are False Lash Effect (my fave) and Sculpted Volume.
This is one of my favourite polishes for changing up some colours in my collection that I am starting to get bored of. I have it in the shade 01 Outta Space Is The Place, and it looks so beautiful over greys and nudes. It just gives a lovely pearlescent finish that really jazzes up your nails.
Considering how popular cream eyeshadows at the moment, Essence have definitely created themselves a winner with the Metal Shock Eyeshadow range. Not only are these so pigmented, but also so metallic. I can’t get over the finish of the silver one. I haven’t tried the Stila Magnificent Metals Eyeshadows so I can’t compare, but I guess if you are looking for a much more affordable version, then the Essence Metal Shock Eyeshadows are a good place to start.
I’ve gone on and on about it in previous posts, but finding eyebrow products that aren’t really warm is near enough impossible. I remember using this styling set in the blonde shades a while ago, and completely finishing the palette. The powder is quite ashy so there is no chance of your eyebrows looking warm if that isn’t the look you want to go for. I also have quite dark brows, so was impressed that the blonde actually worked for me. The only thing I would say is that the brush it comes with isn’t great so I would recommend investing in a good brow brush to use with the powder.
This is honestly the first glitter polish I have come across that actually gives you a completely glittered effect. None of that few flecks of glitter coming out, you can actually completely coat your nails with this glitter. I mean, there is a bit of a technique to it, but once you get the hang of it the results are fab. Just blob the nail polish onto your nails and then spread it, rather than taking all of the nail polish off the brush before you apply.
This one is definitely a really fun product to have in your makeup collection. I really love the range of shades in this as you might actually be surprised to learn that they are actually really wearable. The highlight give a really lovely glow, while the actual colours are quite subtle. I’ve been loving the bronze shade over my regular bronzer, on my cheekbones as it really compliments the colour.
I could go on and on about other favourites from Essence as there are just so many, but I will leave it as this for now! Essence are just a fab makeup brand as they have a huge range of products that are super affordable (sorry, did I already mention that..?!) and are also cruelty-free. This works perfectly with one of my New Years Resolutions to only purchase cruelty-free from now on.
What are your favourite products from Essence? Do you have any recommendations for new ones I should try?
