I’m back! After the best two weeks away travelling around Thailand, I am finally back and ready to get myself blogging again. Having the short break off has given me all the inspiration I need to get straight back to it.
So today I’m going to be giving you the low down on the Latest in Beauty x Red Magazine Summer Beauty Edit box*. I’ve not had a beauty box in so long, so it was super nice to get to try out all the amazing goodies this one was filled with… This is actually Red’s third beauty box in collaboration with Latest in Beauty, and I have to say, they are totally smashing it! All the amazing products filling this box were curated by Red’s Beauty Director, Annabel Meggeson. With the theme being a ‘Summer’ box, it has been filled with loads of super handy travel sized products, and others that will help get you summer ready.
Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum 5ml – Worth £11.66 (RRP £70)
Murad is a new skincare brand to me, as I have never had the opportunity to try any of their products before. The Youth Renewal Serum claims to “minimize the appearance of line and deep wrinkles, firms, evens skin tone and boosts radiance for more vibrant, youthful skin“. Those are some bold claims right there! I am only 24, but I am definitely starting to include more targeted products skincare products in my daily routine.
The sample included in this box is 5ml, which is actually worth £11.66 would you believe! The full size is 30ml and costs £70, so I am really expecting good things from this. You can see some of the results on the Murad website after just two weeks use, and I have to say I am quite impressed.
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser 20ml – Worth £4.60 (RRP £11.50)
This is a super gentle cleanser that helps remove all your makeup and any impurities, without stripping away moisture. I wouldn’t consider my skin sensitive, however, it is prone to areas of dryness, so a cleanser like this could fit really well into my skincare routine. With a multi-tasking formula, it will tone, soothe and soften the skin so for anyone that wants to speed up their evening skincare rituals, this sounds like it could be a winner.
Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage 15ml – Worth £7.20 (RRP £36)
So this is the strangest exfoliator texture I have ever tried… It is more like a soft balm that you apply to the skin until it turns to a liquid consistency. I was expecting something a little more abrasive I have to admit! Formulated for sensitive skins, it uses a mixture of AHAs to remove dead skin cells, Spelt Wheat Peptide to help energise the skin, Vitamin C to brighten the skin and Hyaluronic Acid for long-lasting Hydration. I’m interested to see how well this works…
Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner 50ml – Worth £3.18 (RRP £7.95)
I’m all for a good toning mist – especially in the hot weather as they are just so cooling and refreshing. This alcohol-free toner contains both Rosewater and Chamomile, which are like the ultimate soothing skincare duo. The little 50ml size is perfect for storing in your handbag for a quick moisture boost on the go, or while the weather is nice and warm, keep it in your fridge. You will not regret it!
Hotel Chocolat Lip Balm Full Size – RRP £7
So… did you know that Hotel Chocolat also sell beauty products? Because I most certainly did not! This lip balm has got to be one of my favourites. It has a really subtle but delicious chocolate scent to it, and it is so nice to apply. The texture is slightly more runny than other potted lip balms I have tried in the past, but I quite like that as it makes it easier to apply. It is really hydrating, which surprise me as I kind of didn’t expect it to be as good as it is because let’s be honest, Hotel Chocolat are known for their chocolate making skills, not skincare!
Yes to Coconut Mud Mask Full Size – RRP £2.99
Mud masks are my fave. They are a bit messy but my skin always feels so good after using them, so I can’t wait to give this one a whirl. It contains Coconut Oil used as a natural moisturiser and Kaolin Clay which helps draw out impurities to help cleanse, balance and purify the skin. There are no parabens, SLS or silicones so you don’t need to worry about the mask having the reverse effect and drying out your skin.
Rituals Happy Buddha Ritual Foaming Shower Gel 50ml – Worth £2.13 (RRP £8.50)
My best friend Hannah picked some of this up when we visited the Rituals store in Covent Garden and absolutely raved about it, so since then, I have been eager to try it for myself. It is a little bit of a novelty product as you don’t really expect shower gel to come in an aerosol can… But it does and it really works! At first it comes out like a normal shower gel but this it just expands and grows into a huge foaming blob – that smells absolutely amazing might I add! I am very, very tempted to pick up the full size of this.
TempleSpa Peace Be Still Calming Skin Balm 50ml – Worth £6.33 (RRP £19)
Nothing quite beats a lightweight moisturiser as you can put it on and you’re basically good to go. No waiting around for it to dry. This one has the most lovely texture that is so refreshing and just leaves your skin feeling really hydrated. It is a really good product to use as an after sun I have found, as it is particularly good on irritated skin. It’s just really soothing.
Sanctuary Spa Body Moisture Spray 50ml – RRP £2.50
This lightweight oil smells absolutely heavenly! It is such a nice summery scent that I can’t wait to pop it in my bag to use while I am out and about. The formula sinks into the skin really quickly and leaves you with hydrated skin and a lovely scent. The fragrance is long-lasting too, so you can be smelling summery all day long!
Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil 9ml – Worth £7.85 (RRP £48)
Gutted I don’t have a bath in my house to put this in… The scent is amazing so I can imagine it is so relaxing when you use it in your bath. I have read on the back of the packaging though that you can apply it to your skin before you get in the shower. So that is something I will definitely have to try instead! The scent is fairly strong so I can see how it makes it a good product to use in the morning to give you an energy boost!
La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid SPF50+ 3ml – Worth £0.99 (RRP £16.50)
When I went to Thailand I took away some SPF 30 La Roche-Posay suncream as I thought it would help prevent me getting heat rash as the formula is much more light – it was some of the best suncream I have ever used. SPF 50 can often be quite thick so I am interested to see how this one maintains its light formula.
Jurlique Rose Hand Cream 30ml – Worth £6.96 (RRP £29)
This hand cream smells incredible! I absolutely love the rose fragrance to it. It just makes it feel extra luxurious! It is a really rich and deeply moisturising hand cream, but it doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy or oily. I just wish the full size wasn’t so expensive!
Dr.Organic Moroccan Glow Medium Self Tan Mousse Full Size – RRP £14.99
After coming back from Thailand with a teeny bit of a tan, I definitely need something to help keep that glow. So I am going to be testing this out. Containing lots of plant oils, they are supposed to help maintain a streak-free tan and keep your skin feeling super soft. So hopefully this fake tan will be a good one that stops me from looking like a zebra!
Batiste Original Dry Shampoo 50ml – RRP £1.50
This is such a travel essential. I always buy one of these to take away on holiday, so I am really glad one was included in this box as I can take it away with me to Budapest in August. Though not my favourite brand of dry shampoo, Batiste still does that job and is the only brand I can find that does travel sizes!
Charles Worthington Everyday Gentle Micellar Shampoo & Weightless Conditioner 75ml – Worth £3.59 (RRP £11.98)
Micellar haircare seems to be all the rage at the moment. It basically means that all the nasties have been removed from the shampoo and conditioner so your hair won’t be weighed down by them. Unfortunately, these types of hair products really don’t work for my hair as it is so thick. The conditioners are thick enough for my hair so it means I just end up using loads of product. Though I haven’t tried these Charles Worthington ones yet so they might be worth a go just incase, as I do really like the sound of them!
Popband London Neon Hair Bands – Worth £3 (RRP £6)
These are my favourite as you can get away with wearing hair ties on your wrist when it is one of these. They look like funky festival bands and come in such a wide array of colours. The neon ones are super bright! I love that these really don’t snag your hair, as when you have long hair like me, it can be so painful!
Inika Certified Organic Lip & Cheek Cream Full Size – RRP £19
Multi-use makeup products are great for taking on holiday as they take up much less space. This cheek and lip cream is perfect for packing in your travel bag as you can create some great no-makeup makeup looks with it. On the cheeks it has a lovely dewy finish, then on your lips, it is a lovely “my lips but better” finish.
Nailberry L’Oxygéné Oxygenated Nail Lacquer in Rouge Full Size – RRP £14.50
Rouge is your absolute classic red and definitely a summer essential. You need to go bold with both your mani and pedi ready for the summer. I haven’t tried any of the Nailberry polishes before, but I often see them around and am always admiring the colour range. They are a great brand to buy from with all their products being cruelty-free, vegan and halal certified.
Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara 4ml – RRP £8
Another perfect travel-sized product to take away on holiday. A waterproof mascara is a must as well if you want to prevent any panda eyed moments… I’ve heard that this mascara doesn’t smudge or flake, so I am definitely going to have to put it to the test. The formula is sounding like a holiday winner to me!
Digital Magazine Subscription
You also get a years magazine subscription from a selection of 7 Hearst magazines. These can be sent straight to your Apple or Android device, which makes it a perfect way to keep you entertained on your commute to work! I picked a subscription to Elle magazine which is worth £47.88!
This box is an absolute winner. I am happy with every single product that came in this box, and would happily pay the full price of £40 to receive all of it. It seems like such a bargain when you add it all up and it’s contents are worth over £177. So many of these things I would have been buying anyway for my holiday, so it is nice to get a few extras on top of that. Lots of these products I wouldn’t have come across before, so beauty boxes are definitely a brilliant way of discovering new things. Pick yours up here.
*I was very kindly gifted this box however all thoughts are 100% honest and all my own.
