In case you hadn’t noticed (in all honesty, you really probably didn’t notice), I haven’t blogged in quite a while.
The truth is, I really couldn’t be bothered. I lost all motivation to sit down and write a blog post, set up photographs and then go through the laborious task of sharing the post across all my socials. Blogging isn’t always an easy task, but it should in no way feel like a chore.
So I took a step back. I wanted to take a break and give myself the chance to fall back in love with blogging again. I wanted to feel excited to write, and I think after a little break away from my blog, I am finally ready to get stuck in.
So what have I been up to recently?
Back in June (feels like a lifetime ago already!) I went on the most amazing two-week trip to Thailand and Cambodia. We travelled from Bangkok to Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and then to Phnom Pehn. Eventually, I want to get round to writing some travel content on the places we visited, so keep your eyes peeled!
It was quite a lot of travelling in the space of two weeks so I am no way near done with Thailand just yet. Next on my list is Chiang Mai, which is a place I am desperate to visit – I have heard such great things about it! If I’d had more time, I would have also loved to have explored more of Cambodia too.
For ages I have been feeling a little lost – even more so when I came back from Thailand. I wasn’t quite sure where I was heading with anything. So I decided to get a card reading done. I was already following Laila on Twitter and had seen that she offered these. For £22, I thought I had nothing to lose so went ahead and booked one.
Laila did the card reading over Facetime so I could also her questions about the cards as she explained the reading. She was so lovely and easy to speak to, answering all of my questions and clarifying anything I didn’t understand.
The cards Laila used were Lenormand cards, which are used to show events. In short, the reading from the Lenormand cards came out as leading towards a really positive outcome. There were quite a few moments during that read that I was actually a little spooked out at how accurate things Laila was saying felt.
One of the cards in particular that came up in my reading was the Clover, which is about opportunity. Laila described it as “making our own luck and taking even the smallest of opportunities”, and when paired with the following card, the lily, it suggests growing success, but I need to be patient. So I was… then lo and behold something weird happened…
A short while after getting the reading, I was feeling much better about life in general. The way I thought about the card reading was that even if nothing came of it, at least it had really cleared my head and showed me that I needed to work on myself and be more positive.
Then one day my boss called me in for a meeting and told me I was getting a promotion, which was totally and completely unexpected.
I am being promoted to an Account Manager at the digital agency I work at, which I couldn’t be more happier about! It is more responsibility but it means I will be doing so much more of the work I love doing.
After admiring floral tattoo designs for a few years, I finally plucked up the courage and got myself booked in to have one done. I had been researching a few tattoo artists that did the kind of style I was looking for and came across Lucie. Her floral tattoo designs are absolutely stunning, and I knew instantly she would be able to create the exact tattoo I was looking for. I wanted two buttercups on my inner ankle, that looked really delicate, and she created exactly that. I am super happy with the end result, and now kind of want to get another one…
So in the rest of my spare time when I should really be at the gym, or at least doing something productive, I have been binge watching The Bold Type. And I know that might be a slightly odd thing to mention in a post about where I have been, but honestly, in my spare time I have been sat in bed watching The Bold Type on repeat and I have no shame.
It is the most addictive series, and I strongly urge you all to go watch it immediately on Amazon Prime. I’ve already got Hannah hooked!
It’s a fictional comedy/drama series about three best friends working at a women’s magazine called Scarlet. Inspired by Joanna Coles, the former editor in chief of Cosmopolitan, it follows the three girls’ lives, relationships, fashion, current issues and so much more and it just an all-round great series to watch. It has also been commissioned for a third series that is currently being filmed, and I can’t wait to watch it!
So yeah, I guess that is it really! If like me you are feeling a little lost with everything at the moment, I definitely recommend going to Laila for a reading. She does lots of different ones for different scenarios (not sure if that is the right word, but go explore her website and you will see what I mean).
I’ve also decided that rather than trying to go back into my old schedule of blog posts, which was uploading a new post twice a week, I am going to edge myself back in slowly and aim for one a week on a Sunday. Then maybe in the future, I will start going back to two… we shall see!
