Hidden down one of the beautiful cobbled Cambridge streets sits The Ivy. With its eccentric range of prints adorning the walls and gorgeous interior details, I have always been a fan of the Ivy. Their unique but very recognisable interior style is replicated throughout the chain of restaurants throughout the UK.
In celebration of Isaac Newton’s birthday, The Ivy Brasserie in Cambridge has launched it’s ‘Month of Inspiration‘. Stemming from the fact that Isaac Newton is best known for producing the laws of motion and gravity, the month has been themed around the apple.
This theme includes the beautiful ‘Inspiration Tree’ installation situated within the restaurant. It can be clearly seen as soon as you step inside.
The tree allows guests to hang inspirational quotes or facts that can be read by others visiting.
I was kindly invited along to experience the ‘Month of Inspiration’ for myself – to sample the set menu and to see the ‘Inspiration Tree’ in all its glory.
And knowing just how good the cocktails are at The Ivy, I was, of course, more than happy to accept the invitation, knowing that I would have the opportunity to try one of the new apple themed cocktails!
Upon arrival, Hannah and I both opted for one of Newton’s Flute – a mix of “Calvados, lemon juice, maple syrup, a dash of Peychaud’s bitters and topped with apple cider“. A truly delicious apple flavoured cocktail!
The set inspiration menu includes some absolutely divine options to choose from. But from the four mains options, the Hoisin-glazed crispy duck leg really took my eye.
And I am so glad I chose this. The meat just fell off the bone, and paired with mashed potato and red wine sauce, it was incredible.
Hannah went for the roasted butternut squash with grains, of which I did sneak a mouthful and can confirm it was equally as delicious and flavoursome.
For dessert, Hannah and I didn’t even need to contemplate. The rich chocolate mousse was calling our name. With raspberries and a salted crunchy peanut caramel topping… Need I say more?!
The dessert option arrived and was beautifully presented. But soon demolished when we realised just how yummy it was!
The set inspiration menu is priced at £22 for two courses and a cocktail, or three courses and a cocktail for £27, which to me is perfectly reasonable.
The ‘Month of Inspiration‘ will be running until the 8th February so be sure to get yourself down there to experience some absolutely incredible food from the inspiration menu, and to read some lovely quotes from the ‘Inspiration Tree’.
*I was kindly invited to experience the Inspiration menu complimentary, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
