I was kindly gifted these products but all thoughts are my own.
Essence is, and always will be, one of my favourite makeup brands, so I always get excited when I hear about their new releases. One of which is the new Essence Vegan Velvet Matte Lipsticks*. Which, slight disclaimer – I am not actually vegan, however, I think it is nice that it is an all-inclusive product especially with Essence being a cruelty-free brand.
So these lipsticks come in a range of 12 shades, covering everything from highly pigmented pinks to beautiful nude shades. I was given two shades to try, one pink and one dark nude shade – both of which I adore!
The texture of these velvet matte lipsticks is just insane. They apply so smooth on your lips without any drag, which can sometimes be a bit of an issue with dry matte lipsticks. However, these are not drying in the slightest, and if I am honest, I prefer the texture of these in comparison to some of the high-end matte lipsticks I have tried. Essence has got the texture of these lipsticks perfected.
I should also add that these lipsticks smell amazing. They remind me of pick and mix sweets, or something sweet along those lines. It is just such a nice sweet berry scent.
For just £2.30 each, these matte lipsticks are an absolute steal!
Would it make sense if I described this as a dark orange-toned nude?
The fact that is is matte as well, just makes it even better. I feel like for £2.30 it is worth getting all the nude shades in the range… or scrap that, just buying the whole range!
This is an absolutely gorgeous berry shade that suits both day and night looks. I never usually wear bold lipsticks in the day, but this one actually works quite well as it looks quite nice with natural makeup for a strong pop of colour.
Bold lipsticks are something I am always scared to try out, but I think this one actually quite suits my pale complexion so I am definitely going to get a lot of wear out of it.
If you want to try any of these lovely lipsticks out for yourself (which I highly recommend you do), you can pick them up from Wilko both online and instore.
