Peru isn’t a location on a lot of people’s bucket lists, but it certainly should be. I’ll admit that while it isn’t top of mine, it definitely is on there! There are so many adventures to be had in this wonderful country, but many are overlooked as Peru is not known for being of particularly high interest when it comes to holiday destinations.
For those that are interested in visiting Peru, there are so many things you should do and places you should visit that should be ready on your itinerary! Here are some of the awesome things that you should most definitely consider doing when you are visit Peru…
Nazca Lines
These geoglyphs were formed by depressions or small incisions into the soil of the Nazca Desert. You can even get yourself on a tour where you will be able to see all of the wonderful patterns that have been created. To get here, you do need to travel down to the South of Peru, but it will be well worth it. The lines range about 1000 square kilometers and depict animals and lots of other funky designs.
The best way to view this site is definitely by air, which is why a helicopter tour will probably be your best option. Find a tour that is convenient for you, and head out over the desert to marvel at some of the huge creations across the sand. You will see some of the pictures can even range up to 30 meters wide, and experiencing this from high up is going to be something you will never forget.
Machu Picchu
Peru is most known among tourists for the citadel known as Machu Picchu. There is an amazing range of activities for you to do - so many so that there is literally something for everyone! If you like being active, then you can go on a beautiful trek with a company like Kandoo Adventures where you will be treated to some of the most wonderful views you have ever seen! Or, if trekking isn’t your style, you might be interested in seeing The Temple Of The Moon or some of the other archaeological sites.
It is still unknown what Machu Picchu was actually used for back when it was created, but what we definitely do know that it is a breathtaking place if you ever have the opportunity to visit.
Amazon Rainforest
You will have definitely heard of the Amazon Rainforest, but you might not associate it with countries like Peru. The rainforest does stretch into the smaller countries in South America like this one. You will find that there are even river towns that you can explore like Iquitos, which can be located via a boat journey.
After looking at some of the amazing views and sights to see in Peru, it is definitely safe to say that it has moved further up on my bucket list of places to travel! Have you ever visited Peru? What would you recommend doing there?
