Anyone that knows me well will know that I am a serial series binger. Once I get into a series, I just can’t stop watching it. So obviously Game of Thrones has been a huge annoyance for me having to wait weekly for each episode to come out…
My current set-up usually involves getting cosy in bed while watching anything and everything on Netflix on my MacBook, or getting comfy on the sofa. Not the best set-up, but I can only dream of one day owning a Panasonic wireless home cinema system* where I can feed my Netflix addiction even more - but with better sound quality!
So with loads of new series coming out this year, I have put together a list of some of my favourites and those I will be looking forward to watching the new seasons of…
The Bold Type
If you haven’t already seen this, you are totally missing out! The Bold Type is a comedy-drama, set in New York and follows three best friends who work at a magazine. It was actually inspired by Joanna Coles, the former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan. But the show itself covers all kinds of current issues and just general girl-talk topics, so is the perfect series to binge on. Amazon is currently streaming season three weekly, so I have to wait patiently for each episode *boo*. But it has just been renewed for a fourth season, so I am very happy!
The Society
A new addition to Netflix but a binge-worthy one all the same. The Society has been described as a modern-day lord of the flies with the premise being that all the kids in a town go on a school trip, only to return to find that everyone in the town has disappeared. They soon realise they have to fend for themselves as they have been left to set new rules for sustaining life in a town they can’t escape.
Game of Thrones
I couldn’t do a blog post on what I’m watching in 2019 without mentioning Game of Thrones… Sadly, the final episode of Game of Thrones will be aired on Monday and I’m not quite sure how I’m going to cope with it being over. Though that being said, I haven’t been quite as impressed with season 8 as I have been with past ones.
Lunatics
Chris Lilley is just hilarious and Summer Heights High, and Ja’mie Private School Girl, he is back with a Netflix series called Lunatics and I can confirm it is just as hilarious as you would expect. Like usual, he plays a range of interesting characters and he is just so spot on with the impersonations. Jana the pet psychic is by far my favourite. I’m hoping she gets a spin off series!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
This is one of my all-time favourite tv series. It is so hilariously funny and has me laughing out loud all the time - even when I’m rewatching episodes. It’s about the detectives working in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct, with each episode only being 20 minutes long so you can happily squeeze a few in at a time!
Luther
Considering the amount of series I have binge watched, this is one I’m yet to get started on. It’s a crime drama that follows a DCI and the gritty crimes he gets stuck into investigating. Everyone keeps telling me how good it is, so I think this is the next one I’m going to get stuck into.
